Program Updates and Announcements
As we enter the second quarter of 2021, we have made several updates and enhancements to the Energy Savings for Business Programs.
New program updates
Prescriptive
The LED-to-LED offering is being expanded. Pepco and Delmarva Power will now allow prescriptive retrofit lighting projects that have existing LED fixtures in the baseline. This expands to now include existing TLEDs (as before), troffers or panels, high bay or low bay fixtures, or exterior fixtures. These can be replaced with new integral troffers or panels, high bay or low bay fixtures, or exterior fixtures so long as they meet wattage reduction requirements.
There are new reporting requirements for Network Lighting Controls (NLC). A new tab has been added to the prescriptive retrofit lighting worksheet, labeled “NLC Details.” This tab will be used to document the specific control strategies implemented for NLC systems.
For more details on the changes, check out the updated worksheet.
Custom
All projects submitted under the Custom program since Jan. 1, 2021 are eligible for a new Custom Accuracy Bonus. If the final energy savings (kWh) calculated at project close-out is within a 15% variance of the original pre-approved energy savings (kWh) total, then the project is eligible to receive an additional $0.03/kWh saved. This bonus raises the capped incentive amount from $0.25/kWh to $0.28/kWh saved. No other changes are being made to the program or its requirements. It is expected that all program participants will receive the bonus if they follow the existing program requirements.
All projects submitted after Jan. 1, 2021 are retroactively eligible to receive the bonus.
Building Tune-up
Small Building Tune-up is a new pathway under Pepco and Delmarva Power’s Building Tune-up Program. This pathway is designed for facilities less than 75,000 square feet and provides incentives up to 75% toward the cost of the walk-through assessment, implementation of identified measures, and even monitoring and verification of select measures, up to $25,000.
New program features
“Live Chat” button added to program website
This new button provides a quick and easy way for Service Providers and customers to privately chat with a program representative. Project of the Quarter
Congratulations to ESCO ENGIE Impact for having the project of the quarter for their work with Walmart in Fruitland, Maryland. This lighting retrofit project went through the Delmarva Power Energy Savings for Business Prescriptive Program, where they replaced the building’s entire sales floor lighting with new LED retrofit kits.
This massive project was the largest of the quarter and the third-largest of the year. Plus, what makes it even more impressive, Walmart Fruitland cut their lighting energy use in half and has currently saved a total of 909 MWh and approximately $124,896 in energy costs thanks to these upgrades.
Think you could be the next project of the quarter? Just submit your Q1 2021 project nominations to Shira.Singer@icf.com for a chance to be featured in a future newsletter.
