Projects of the Quarter |
Medium-to-Large Business (MLB) Project Winner |
Congratulations to Mid-Atlantic Energy Solutions on winning the MLB Project of the Quarter for recent work with Patriot Steel in Church Creek, Maryland. This project, completed through Delmarva Power’s Energy Efficient Communities program, involved lighting and control upgrades. |
According to Sawyer Allen, the project’s Service Provider, the owner was looking to upgrade his lighting. “We discussed how his business and facility use had changed over the years, leaving some areas of the building underused but lit throughout the day,” Allen said. “By opting for fixture-mounted network controls we were able to optimize the facilities’ savings. Now the lights automatically turn on when in use and off after a short time of no use.” |
Thanks to these upgrades, Patriot Steel received $44,000 in incentives from the program and will now save approximately 50,000 kWh annually. |

Small Business (SB) Project Winner |
Congratulations to Kenzie Electric, LLC on winning the SB Project of the Quarter for recent work with Mowbray’s Garden Center in Cambridge, MD. |
Kenzie Electric is proof that customer service can pay off. Their dedication and commitment to getting the job done right, on time, and for the right price made all the difference for Mowbray’s Garden Center. So, it was no surprise that owner Brittany Mowbray called Kenzie when she needed to upgrade the lighting in her garden facility and replace refrigeration equipment. After completing not just one but four projects, Mowbray is a fan—a very loyal fan. |
“Kenzie Electric provided outstanding service,” Mowbray said. “They made several visits, even after equipment and services were done, to make sure I was happy with everything and to answer any questions I might have had. The personal relationship I have with Kenzie Electric is so rewarding. Having someone from your community that is also another small business just gives you a sense of comfort and trust.”
|
Thanks to these upgrades, Mowbray’s Garden Center has received a total of $15,302 in incentives and benefitted from a projected 40,328 kWh in energy savings. It has also improved its facility’s lighting quality and refrigeration reliability, along with new manufacturer warranties associated with the upgrades. |
