Industry Update
Beginning in 2025, the Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS), already in place in Montgomery County, will be expanding to other areas in Maryland.
This regulation requires covered building owners to report data to MDE through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager tool. Benchmarking begins in 2025, and compliance with direct greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and site energy use intensity (EUI) standards begins in 2030. Check out these FAQs for more information.

Project of the Quarter
Congratulations to Gipe Associates, Inc. for receiving Project of the Quarter recognition for their recent work with Somerset County Health Department.
This project, completed through Delmarva Power’s Custom program, involved several dehumidification measures, including two water-to-water heat pumps, along with several new duct dampers, piping in the mechanical room, a new water heater, and additional equipment designed to reduce humidity in the building.
Somerset County Health Department is looking forward to the savings that will occur during the summer and early fall when humidity levels rise.
Thanks to these upgrades, Somerset County has already received $13,000 in incentives and will now save approximately 46,500 kWh annually .
Think you could have the next Project of the Quarter? Submit your project nominations to Aby Warran at Aby.Warran@icf.com for consideration to be featured in the next newsletter.
